How to Reach Sri Lanka

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

Colombo International Airport (CMB) is the main point of entry for international travelers in Sri Lanka. The availability of domestic flights in Sri Lanka is limited as most of the cities are quite near to each other. Direct flights from Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai are available by Air India, Jet Airways, and SriLankan Airlines. India to Sri Lanka flight duration may vary from 90 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes depending on the airport.

However, some of the prime flight zones are from Ampara, Bentota river, Colombo, Hatton, Jaffna, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Katugastota, Kelaniya, Koggala, Mahaweli, Weerala, Sigiriya, Trincomalee etc. The airlines that religiously serve Sri Lanka are like Jet Airways, Singapore airlines, Turkish Airlines, Spice jet airlines etc.

By Train

Once you scout you will get the detail travel time of the buses that majorly includes routes like Negombo, Galle, while there is a direct bus route from the Colombo to Kandy. For every hour the buses travel for forty to fifty kilometers. However, the speed lifts up as the drivers are set to wheel on the plane lands to 60 to 70 kilometers. But again the speed slows down to 20 km in the hilly areas.

By Road

In Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Railways runs throughout the island. A train ride is more relaxing as compared to other rides. In fact, the first class train ticket in Sri Lanka does not go beyond $15.35. In Sri Lanka, there are three rail lines, including South from Colombo, East from Colombo, and North from Colombo. One can book regular class or an AC class depending upon the distance of your location and hours of travel.

Our recent trip to Sri Lanka was truly one of the most memorable vacations we’ve ever had. Every part of the journey was thoughtfully planned, making our holiday completely stress-free and enjoyable. A heartfelt thank you to our travel agent Ms. Dilini from Steeple tours for organising such a seaml
ess itinerary, and ensuring every detail was taken care of. Your professionalism, prompt assistance, and dedication made our trip smooth from start to finish. A very special thanks to our tour guide plus driver Mr. Aruna Dsilva who was the true highlight of our journey. Your warm hospitality, extensive knowledge of Sri Lanka, patience, and friendly nature made us feel at home throughout the trip. You went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Your flexibility and willingness to accommodate our preferences made our experience even more special. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country, but it was the people we met. We return home with wonderful memories and would highly recommend this travel team to anyone planning a visit to Sri Lanka.

Overall we are very satisified with the trip and we had a great time. Trip was well oraganized. Cab was clean, driver was on time mostly. Hibiscus beach resort near Bentota, Kamrel hotel at Sigiriya, Magampura eco village resort at Yala were the best properties. As far as improvements are concerne
d: Hotels at Kandy was below average on all parameters. Food at Nuwarya Ellia hotel was below average, howver, they accommodated indian food request Most importantly, we should have been allowed freely to choose government authorized operators for whale watch, Madu boat safari , polonurwarya city tour who offered tickets at half the price compared to Glamour asia recommended operators. No such restriction was mentioned in the itinerary Also, we had to book tuk tuk at Merrissa as cab was not available for whole day Several places mentioned in itinerary were not covered on one pretext or another eg Ambuluwawa. adam peak, Zip line etc. On the other hand, we were charged 10K LKR for polonurwa sight seeing in lieu of village tour and cultural programme in which we were not interested Lastly, we should have given flexibility to adjust time for sighseeing spots a little eg some spot is more appealing than the other Overall it was a good trip and well organized Thanks to Travel triangle and its partner So many of them eg Lion Rock, Nuwarya Elliia, merrissa whale watch, tea lounge, gem making, Hibiscus beach resort with priavte area, lotus tower at colombo .. so and so forth

I am happy with the arrangements done by the Trip Travel hub company in Sri Lanka, They have provided good hotels and good car to go around. Although they can do a better job with planning the itinerary as we faced dificulty to cover everything that was planned in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy and Ramboda. We
liked the accomodation provided in Sigirya, Ramboda, Mirissa, but the one in Yala was not that great. The company also should have enquired about our food preferences and planned for restaurants where we could eat proper meals. everyday it was a challenge to find vegetarian restaurent to eat lunch and snacks. The best part of the trip was the hotel Oak Ray Tea Bush, the amazing view from the hotel room was really worth it. Overall the trip was good and satisfactory.
